A Trip to Remember
Wham Bam thank you ma'm, that was how our last weekend felt!! We just got back from a fast but fun trip to St. George Utah. We went for a wedding, Spencer's youngest brother was the last to get hitched! We managed to almost get everybody across the country to come, from Virginia, Minnisota, Oklahoma, California, and Nevada!
Spencer and I flew with the dogs..... yes the dogs! In the Coons family Dachshunds are as good as grandchildren. So we packed up all our suitcases, got some dog carriers, and left for the airport at 4:30am. We parked the car and waited at the shuttle station for the bus but I guess he did not like the looks of us because he stoped for a moment and then kept on driving. (You know Spencer was just thrilled!). So we each had a dog carrier in one hand, our suitcases in the other, and we hiked into the airport. Where we discovered the line through security was out the door!! Spencer was pretty mad at this point and was trying to talk his way into getting ahead... oh yeah did I mention our flight left at 6. While we were standing in line trying to shush our dogs, who just LOVED the carriers by the way, we get a text from Southwest saying our connecting flight in Phoenix was canceled.... Well we did make it through security (Time 5:40), the dogs did great - really, it totally surprised me! Once through I took both dogs in their carriers, ditched Spencer and ran to the gate, we made it! We were the last ones on but we got our own row and they let us have to dogs heads out (making them much happier).
Southwest hooked us up with another flight in Phoenix (just when I thought we would get to spend a day with my family), but they were holding the plane for us so we ran to another gate, there was not any seats together, and we were not allowed to put the dogs on our laps. This is when I needed to go tinkle and Wienz thought I had abandoned him and let the whole plane know it! We ended up landing in Las Vegas at 7:40am an hour earlier then our original flight. It was at this point we learned Kim had not even left the house. But we found a good spot outside, let the dogs run around and waited... 2 hours later we were back on the road!
We were so excited to be back in St. George (I LOVE St. George), and the dogs were so happy to be out of the car and running around! We arrived on a Wendnesday and had two days to play and get ready for the wedding. Heather, Megan, and I went to get our nails done for the wedding - a must! And we went on many, many, many errands! Chris, Trevor, Carly and her kiddos all arrived thrusday afternoon. Jordan with his family came up a little later that night and Mark and his family came very very late thrusday night, more like early friday morning. With most of us there it was getting pretty crazy but a good crazy!
Friday morning all the festivities began, starting with family pictures. We went up to Pioneer Park which is just a desert filled with small cliffs, boulders, and trails, but it is all red rock and very pretty. We were going to spend the rest of the morning at Pirate Pizza but they closed!!! We ended up going back to Chris and Kims to go swimming, eat pizza, and have our own Pirate Party! That night was the BBQ, done in a true Coons fashion, meat as big as your FACE!! It was time to party before the big day arrived!
