Christmas Letter 2015
Merry Christmas! To be totally honest, I (Katie) have had the
hardest time thinking about what to write in our Christmas Letter this
year. The last twelve months have been
full of triumphs and trials.
We began our year in
Tulsa Oklahoma with Katie as a fresh nursing graduate studying for her
boards. Katie had a job lined up to work
in the Medical ICU and Spencer was enjoying every minute of his job working in
Oil and Gas Title Opinions. It seemed
that our life’s path was straight before us.
We were optimistic and full of plans that we had only been hopeful for
in the past. However, you never know
what is around the corner. As you have
noticed the price of gas has gotten a lot cheaper, and while that is usually
great, it is not so great if you do oil and gas title opinions. Spencer was laid off at the end of January
and has been doing contract work for his old job intermittently. During this time we have been strengthened
greatly by our Heavenly Father. For reasons
we cannot explain the bills were never paid late and we were able to put money into
savings. My testimony of tithing has
increased a lot this year and I am continually grateful for those blessings.
As
the months went by with little opportunity for Spencer to get full time
employment we got an impression. We were
going to move to St. George Utah to help Spencer’s sister. Carly has been rocking it as a single mom of
5 amazing kids and is working hard to provide a life for them by going to
nursing school and working night shifts as a nurse’s aide; talk about your
wonder mom!! We were in a position to
help and with lots of prayer we felt this is where we needed to be. We went from zero to five kids overnight! There has been a huge learning curve and our
Netflix time has greatly diminished, but we are loving every minute of it. Currently Katie works on the Medical Oncology
floor at Dixie regional Medical center as a Nurse, she did pass her boardsJ. It has been a difficult but rewarding job. Spencer has been our knight in shining
armor. He works day and night with the
kids, taking them to school, ballet, gymnastics, karate, and coaching
football. He works so hard and as little
Sarah says “Before uncle Spencer came we never had timeouts or chores!.” Spencer took the Arizona Bar exam which will
allow him to be licensed in Arizona and Utah…..and he PASSED! Such an amazing feat, we could not be prouder
or more thankful. Unfortunately because
of paperwork issues he will not be fully licensed until spring of next year.
Perhaps the ones that
benefited most from the move have been Wienz and Maximus. Wienz has determined that food held by
toddlers is very easily accessible and has put on a few pounds. Max now has 6 additional people to play with
and throw the ball. Carlys family has a
sweet lady dog named Mrs. BooBoo, a small white dog that looks like an
Ewok. Max and Mrs. BooBoo have become
fast friends!
We are unsure what
this New Year will bring us or where we will end up. But we are enjoying our time in true “Full
House” fashion with 3 adults, 5 kids, and 3 dogs in one house.
